Angela Christine Samuel began her dance career at the age of 6 years with the Les Enfant Dance Troupe under the tutorship of Virginia Alexander. In 1986, Christine was awarded an OAS Scholarship to study at the Edna Manley College of the Performing Arts in Jamaica. In 1995, she successfully secured a place at State University of New York at Brockport (SUNY)) where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance (Cum Laude). In 1989, Christine established the Christylights Dance Troupe which served as an avenue for her to continue educating and training young persons in dance. By 2005, she had developed the Christylights Dance Troupe into the Christylights Dance Academy, major Saint Lucian arts institution dedicated to training students at all levels, from age 3 to adult, in various dance disciplines.
For over 40 years, Christine has dedicated her life to dance as a performer, tutor and choreographer. In her early years, she danced with the Petite Ste. Lucie Dance Company directed by Michael ‘Ikel’ Francis and the Dance Ensemble. She also established the Saint Lucia Dance Theatre Company in 2000. Christine has received numerous awards in dance for her choreographed works including the Performing Arts Award from the National M & C Fine Arts Award Scheme (Saint Lucia).
Currently, she is a teacher of Theatre Arts at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School in Saint Lucia.
