Darcell Frederick-Osei will be joining the cast for the Icons Series, via video on May 1st, 2016. Darcel was born in Saint Vincent and raised throughout the Caribbean, but Saint Lucia is where she calls home. She started dancing at age 5 with the Antigua School of Ballet and at age 6, she joined the Little Dancers School of Dance, now the Antigua Dance Academy, an Afro-Caribbean Dance Company in Antigua. At age 9, her parents returned to Saint Lucia and she joined the Les Enfants Dance Company. Soon afterwards, at the age of 18, she became a founding member of the Saint Lucia Dance Theatre Company.

“I don’t know that I would have pursued a career in dance had it not been for the foundation that was set by being a member of the Les Enfants Dance Company. I would not have the life I have now and cannot imagine it any other way. For this I am truly grateful to Auntie Virgie.” ~ Darcel Frederick-Osei

Darcel completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Kinesiology and Health Science at York University in Toronto, Canada, in 2008 after which she became a company member of the Ballet Creole Dance Company in Toronto. She has worked with choreographers such as Gabby Kamino, Debbie Wilson and Milton Myers, to name a few.

In 2010, she completed a week long residency in Birmingham, England, facilitated by ACE Dance and Music, led by choreographer Vincent Mantsoe.

She is a dancer in Disney’s “Lion King”, the UK ensemble, since 2011.
