Mango Beach Inn is a landmark building in local stone, set in beautiful gardens and blending into the hillside. It’s rustic and ramshackle, but clean and full of light, with AC, fabulous king size beds, free WiFi, plumbing that works, and patios with sea views. A complimentary healthy breakfast of home grown fruits, cereals, home-made bread and local juices (whenever possible), is served in the famous Harbour Room guest lounge with the stunning bay view. Cooked breakfast on request. WHO LOVES MANGO BEACH? • Adventurous, independent, travelers who are curious about history, culture and music as well as about our rainforest, waterfalls, nature trails and beaches – and who also want a holiday location with easy access to all the other island attractions from diving to zip lining. • Families with children of all ages who want to see and do everything but need somewhere shady and welcoming to retreat and cool down when the sun gets too hot. • Visitors who want to explore the real St Lucia and come home to warm showers, a cool pool and a hot barbeque. Life in ‘the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean’ as James Michener described Marigot, is the perfect antidote to stressful city life, cold winters, bleak British summers and long hours in the office. Take the 2 minute ride on the cute little ferry to Mango Beach and leave your worries behind. There’s no road to the Inn, but there’s a safe, free car park by the ferry dock and our guests get free, unlimited ferry passes, valid 24/7. The Mango Beach Team have all been here for too many years to count: John, Judith, Marie, JoJo, Kitama, Eulalie, Belle, Nemma, Floyd and Cookie Cat. The dogs and cats won’t bother you unless you want to get to know them, but most children and many grownups love the pets and the fact that our garden is full of wildlife too – cool lizards, tree frogs, a lily pond filled with mosquito eating fish and almost all of the bird species that are unique to St Lucia. When we greet you with a welcome cocktail and a briefing in the Harbour Room, you may be surprised to find you’re just two minutes away from eight lively bars and restaurants, a shopping village, three spas and a marina full of glamorous yachts in season. Who says you can’t have it all – and one of Trip Advisor’s top Caribbean restaurants, Rainforest Hideaway, is on our dock. Guests who care about eco-issues love to know that Marigot is also a conservation area with the longest stretch of mangroves in St Lucia (a safe nursery for young fish) and a filter preventing erosion. There’s even a mangrove trail, a weird and wonderful experience, incredible tree root sculptures, birds, water’s edge creatures of all kinds, a ruined sugar mill and a haunted house. There are wonderful high trails around the bay too, the one from our garden takes you up to a meditation platform with views of Mount Gimie and Martinique. Marigot is always beautiful, always changing, close to the little beach, a bird watcher’s paradise and, at night, a perfect location for stargazing. And Mango Beach Inn is the coolest spot in this beautiful place – or the hottest spot depending on how you look at it… Imagine being on the waterfront of the most famous harbour in the Caribbean, a bay of stories, sea battles, pirates, submarines, moon landings, movies and a pink snail!
