Air Travel New Flights into St. Lucia Information on new flights coming soon... Airline InformationFor visitors coming from the United States, American Airlines flies twice a week between New York’s JFK Airport and Saint Lucia’s Hewanorra Airport, on Thursdays and Sundays. In addition, American flies daily from Miami. A second flight from Miami which will commence on April 8, and will operate on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, until June 6, 2010. American Eagle flies once daily from San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport to George Charles Airport in the Capital Castries. US Airways has weekly service from Charlotte NC and Philadelphia PA on Saturdays. A second flight from Charlotte, NC will commence on May 9th and operate until August 15th. Delta provides daily service from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to Hewanorra International Airport. Jet Blue currently offers thrice weekly flights from New York's JFK on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. Starting May 1st until Labour Day weekend, Jet Blue will increase service to the island to five days; Thursday through Monday. During the peak season, between mid-November and mid-March, a number of tour companies operate charters from London, Toronto, Milan and various Caribbean destinations. Air Canada, has service from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Saint Lucia four times per week; Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Starting April 17th, flights will operate on Saturdays and Sundays only until October 30, 2010. WestJet has service between Toronto and Saint Lucia on Thursdays and Sundays until December 12, 2010. British Airways has non-stop service between London Gatwick Airport and Hewanorra International Airport on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. This service will operate until Thursday April 1st 2010. As of April 3rd, BA will replace the Friday flights with Saturday flights. Virgin Atlantic flies to the island three times a week from London Gatwick; Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. From May 9 to 23, the Tuesday flight will make a stop in Barbados, inbound and outbound. The airline will resume this schedule from September 5th to October 12. Condor provides service from Frankfurt, Germany to Hewanorra International on Sundays until April 11th, 2010. Commencing April 21st, the flights will operate on Wednesdays. LIAT offers an extensive service for regional travel and connections to international destinations. Air Caraibes offers a daily service between Martinique and Saint Lucia. Airports There are two (2) airports on the island: Hewanorra International Airport at Vieux Fort (UVF) is located 40 miles south of Castries and George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) which adorns a pleasant coastline on the outskirts Castries. Flying times from major cities
Airport departure tax Departure Tax of EC $68 (US $26) for all passengers over 12 years is applied to ticket prices at the time of purchase. Airport Transfers Taxis are readily available from the Hewanorra airport to Castries and the north of the island. Public transport is an alternative, however, passengers must walk their luggage to the main road.
