Local Charities Receive Generous Donations Facilitated by SLTB

Castries, Saint Lucia (May 27th, 2009) - The Saint Lucia Tourist Board today facilitated the presentation of Cheques to three charitable organizations on island. The Holy Family Children’s Home at Ciceron, the Children’s Home based in Soufriere and the Marian Home for the Elderly each acquired monetary contributions from the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Chapter of Northern California. The Cheuques are redeemable at Eroline’s Foods in Soufriere.

The donations were part of an annual exercise made possible by the SLTB through the collaborative efforts of its business partners such as Religious Groupings and other NGO’s, as well as the various US-based CTO Chapters, namely Northern California, Maryland and Orlando.

Representative Evlyn Carlock awarded the Cheques to the respective beneficiaries on behalf of the CTO Northern California Chapter, which funded this year’s donations.

Participants also witnessed the hand-over of barrels of groceries, toiletries and personal items to the Magretoute Home for the Elderly by the Adventist International Medical Missionaries also known as AIMM. The group of professional volunteers from various Seventh Day Adventist churches in the New York area, provide free health services to disadvantaged people worldwide. Later this year, AIMM will team up with the Saint Lucia Seventh Day Adventist community to conduct, among other activities, medical clinics in deprived communities in the lead up to their staging of a Health Fair. That presentation was made by Hortensia Joseph of the SLTB’s New Jersey Office in support of the efforts of AIMM.

Today’s undertaking is part of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board’s efforts to foster social development through its strategic alliances.
