#JounenKwéyòl is a celebration of our Creole heritage. Listen for the sounds of traditional folk music, with drums, shak-shak, banjo, cuatro and violin accompanying songs and storytelling in Kwéyòl, Saint Lucia’s French-based Creole language.

You’ll also see madras throughout the celebrations incorporated through dresses, shirts, head ties, scarves and accessories.

Food is an important part of our celebration, with dishes such as green fig and saltfish, Saint Lucia’s national dish, alongside callaloo soup, accra and fresh bakes. These dishes reflect our Creole culinary traditions and the use of local ingredients.

Jounen Kwéyòl is an opportunity to truly experience Saint Lucia.
