REVISED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

With effect from July 9, 2020
All arriving passengers (with the exception of persons travelling from within the Caribbean bubble) must have a negative result from a PCR test within 7 days of travel

All persons entering Saint Lucia (including persons arriving from within the “Travel Bubble”) must complete a Pre-Arrival Travel Registration Form to ensure your efficient and expedited processing on arrival. Please print and travel with a copy of your registration form. 

 

Protocols for Testing on Arrival

  • Passengers coming in to adhere to all protocols relevant to airport
  • All arriving passengers to be screened, including temperature checks
  • All arriving passengers must have a negative result from a PCR test done within 7 days of travel 
  • All symptomatic passengers to be isolated and tested.
  • All passengers who test positive for COVID-19 to be transferred to Respiratory Hospital for treatment and care at their cost.
  • Other passengers to be transferred to approved COVID-19 accommodation/ government quarantine site/home quarantine

 

Flight Crew Members

 

  • Flight crew will be screened on arrival.
  • Crew members will be exempt from testing except if symptomatic.
  • All symptomatic passengers to be isolated and tested.

 

All arrivals must either

 

  • Have confirmed reservations at a COVID-19 certified accommodation provider for the duration of their stay or
  • Have received approval to quarantine in a household that meets criteria for home quarantine or
  • Have a pre-arranged stay confirmed at a Government operated quarantine facility.

Where will the registration forms be located?

If a passenger displays symptoms on arrival, where will they be isolated? Is it a hospital or a government facility?

The official isolation units are located at Respiratory Clinics at Victoria Hospital and St. Jude’s Hospital.

If a national comes in with a negative PCR test result will they have to undergo quarantine, or will they be exempted?

Any traveller who has had a PCR test within 7 days of travel and has proof of a negative test result must either

  • Have confirmed reservations at a COVID certified accommodation provider for the duration of their stay or
  • Have received approval to quarantine in a household that meets criteria for home quarantine or
  • Have a pre-arranged stay confirmed at a Government operated quarantine facility.
If a US citizen is visiting family in Saint Lucia and their place of stay would be with family what should they do?

In phase 1 of the reopening plan, ALL visitors to the island must be staying in COVID certified accommodation. Therefore, no family or friends can visit unless they are booked into, and will stay in, a COVID certified hotel.

Can nationals pay US$100 for the PCR test, receive a negative result, and still have to undergo quarantine?

PCR tests will only be readily available to people who show symptoms as a result of their screening. The quarantine if for a period of 14 days or until you receive two negative test results and you are clinically stable.

What is a PCR test and how is it administered?

The PCR test sample is collected by a nasal and oral swab.

Will it hurt?

It is mildly uncomfortable but not painful.

Do we have to let you know in advance if we are opting for the local test as opposed to coming with our own certificate?

No

If we test negative, can we explore the rest of the island?

In Phase 1 of the reopening plan, only a small number of tours which will be arranged by your hotel will be available.

Given that many countries still have their borders closed as they try to manage the spread and impact of COVID-19, why have you decided to open Saint Lucia up now?
  • Saint Lucia at present has recorded a 100% recovery rate of all positive cases and have conducted rigid contact tracing.
  • With the reopening, the health and safety of the population and visitors remain of highest importance and will guide the protocols being observed.
  • Tourism contributes 65% of the island’s GDP therefore we cannot remain closed indefinitely.
  • The phased approach to reopening has been an inclusive and collaborative process; the national COVID-19 Response Task Force has held several segment meetings to receive input from a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • The Chief Medical Officer and the COVID-19 Response Task Force have played a leading role in the development of the re-opening programme.

What do visitors need to do to confirm they are eligible for entry to Saint Lucia?
  • All passengers are strongly encouraged to have a PCR test (with a negative result) within 7 days of travel.
  • All persons entering Saint Lucia must complete an online Registration Form before arrival
  • All passengers will be screened on arrival (temperature check)
  • Passengers to receive a PCR test at airport/hotel/quarantine site at their cost. The charge for the test is US$100 per person.
  • Passport / visa where applicable valid for the duration of their stay 
  • All travellers must wear a face mask during the flight and in the airport in Saint Lucia.
  • All travelers must continue the use of face masks on arrival in Saint Lucia. 
What measures are in place to protect visitors?

From arrival into Saint Lucia, at the airport, the airport transfers (ground transportation), and the stay at the hotel – throughout the visit guests are being cared for. Public health protocols including (though not limited to) physical distancing, regular temperature checks, wearing masks and enhanced hygiene measures will be observed.

Visitors will be required to observe social distancing of six feet (2 meters). Masks will be required in public places, when within 6 feet of others and in select public spaces at hotels.

Is car hire/car rental available?

No car hire services are available in Phase 1. However authorized taxi services are available and can be arranged through your hotel.

Is PPE required for guest/visitors to wear at accommodations. Do guests have to wear a mask at the resort?

Yes, in all public areas.

Is PPE required during airport transfers and in taxis?

Yes, travelers must wear a mask on the flight, in the airport in Saint Lucia and in taxis.

If I am not booked into one of the hotels that has been identified for Phase 1 reopening can I still travel to Saint Lucia? If so will I be required to go into quarantine?

Any arrivals who are NOT booked into a certified property will be required to go into quarantine for 14 days.

If someone at the resort I am staying in tests positive for COVID-19, would everyone at the resort be quarantined for 14 days?

If you are identified as someone who has been in contact with the patient during the contact tracing process you will be required to go into quarantine for 14 days.

If a guest falls sick and they need to stay longer than the period of the reservation, who pays for the extended stay?

The guests who are quarantined will be offered specially discounted rates.

Phased reopening - what are the dates associated with the various phases?

Phase 1           04 June to 31 July 2020
Phase 2           01 August to 30 September 2020
Phase 3           01 October 2020

How can I find out which sites and attractions are open?

In phase 1 of the reopening plan there will be no sites and attractions open. A limited number of tours can be booked through your hotel.

Will any shops be open? (duty free/souvenirs etc.)

Yes, some shops will be open however the numbers of people in the shops will be controlled, and masks must be worn, and social distancing and hand sanitization protocols followed. 

How safe is it to get a taxi to the accommodation provider?

Perfectly safe – all ground transportation will be provided by certified operators.

Can ground transportation be shared?

There will be a limit to the number of passengers allowed in a taxi relative to the capacity of the vehicle.

Are helicopter transfers still on offer?

Helicopter transfers are not available in Phase 1.

Is it safe for me to book a holiday to Saint Lucia later in the year?

Saint Lucia is reopening on June 4th with a phased, responsible approach so that any time a traveler arrives on the island for a holiday, there will be protocols in place that keep safety top of mind.

I have booked a holiday for July. The borders are open but the holiday won’t be the same. Can I cancel?

Each hotel and airline has specific cancellation and postponement rules, we suggest you contact your travel providers directly.

I have booked a holiday that falls in phase one of the borders reopening but I’m not sure I can travel. Can I postpone?

Will any independent restaurants on the island be open?

A number of restaurants on the island are open for delivery and take away services only – a list will be available from the hotel. There are no restaurants open for seated service.

Why isn’t a quarantine required for visitors to Saint Lucia when other countries have stipulated this?

Health and safety remain of paramount importance and among some of the important protocols being observed, visitors will be required to be certified COVID-19 free prior to departure. The certificate must be presented at check in.
