Named after the wide blue arc of waters off Saint Lucia's northern coast, which is flanked by a series of beautiful beaches including the sweeping golden strand of Reduit Beach and the white coral stretch at pigeon island, Rodney Bay is home to some of the islands most popular hotels, both beachside and in Rodney Bay Village, a busy commercial strip by day and entertainment destination by night.
The turn-off from the main highway to Rodney Bay is unmistakable, flanked on both sides by shopping malls, banks, restaurants and bars. Street-side dining is popular, and there are excellent cafes to sit in and take-out, including local Creole cuisine, bakeries, healthy options, Chinese and Indian restaurants, pizza, tapas and plenty of fast food options. Shoppers at both malls enjoy tax free prices on a wide variety of famous brands and specialty stores. Saint Lucia's only casino is located upstairs at Bay Walk Shopping Mall and offers all the excitement you'd expect, along with regular live entertainment.
For a more relaxing angle of Rodney bay, check out one of the many spas in the area, whether at a beach front resort or a tiny, zen hideaway. There are a number of independent therapists who offer holistic and alternative therapies including Yoga, Reiki, Reflexology, Ayurvedic Massage, Sports & Restorative Therapies.
After dark, Rodney Bay Village turns into nightlife central for the north of the island, and dinner is served at an array of excellent restaurants covering all taste and budgets, including authentic smoked barbecue, steakhouse, Mexican, Chinese and Indian cuisine as well as other eclectic casual and local dining options. Late night bars and clubs are a busy mix of locals and visitors. There are regular karaoke and live music nights at various venues and much of the music is up-tempo soca and cool reggae. The Rodney Bay vibe goes on till late most nights of the week, and most hotel taxi ranks will oblige with recommendations for drop off and pick up points.
